Attributes of Sand olive trees
Sand-olive (Sandolien) is a small, evergreen tree with a shrub-like growth form. It has simple, bright green leaves and bears small, greenish-yellow flowers. Flowers develop in an abundance of papery winged fruit - initially green-red, later turning yellow. A variation "purpurea" has purple colored leaves. (See image below). Dodonea viscose tolerates wind and is is quite water wise. It is known to have soil stabilization properties.

A few gardening ideas for Sand olive
Sand-olive is an ideal screening tree, up to 3m high, and can also be planted as a wind break. It is attractive year-round. The species can be pruned into a compact, small shade tree. Dodonaea viscosa is a no-nonsense, easy grower, requiring little water.
