Attributes of River bushwillow trees
River bush-willow is very hardy tree. It tolerates severe frost (up to -8C) and drought. Combretum erythrophyllum is deciduous, some times exhibiting beautiful autumn colors (pending weather and climatic conditions). River bush-willow may grow into a large tree with an aggressive root system. It is often planted along street pavements and is also used to provide shade in parking lots. Combretum erythrophyllum is a "no-nonsense" plant-and-forget species.

A few gardening ideas for River bushwillow
In its natural habitat, River bushwillow grows along streams -hence its popular name. It is therefor a good choice if your garden has clay soil. It develops a beautiful branch structure if pruned correctly. If not, it may grow lanky. Combretum erythrophyllum has somewhat aggressive roots and should not be planted in a small garden. Unfortunately it does not do well in a pot either. The species is prone to attack by by a small bore worm. This is easily treated by soil drench with Imidor 350.
