Olea europaea africana | Wild olive trees for sale | Olienhout
Wild olive survives severe frost and is somewhat drought resistant. It is a beautiful evergreen tree with a mushroom-like form. Unfortunately it is a slow grower. Olea africana is an ideal shade tree for smaller gardens (note - not for a small garden). Wild olive tree thrives in a large pot and responds well to pruning. You can control the size of the tree by choosing the size of the container or pot. With a bit of care (regular water and 3 feedings per year) Olea africana in a pot will, for many years, provide a striking focal point in a small garden.
Value to honeybees: Nectar, N?; Pollen, P0-2; Flowering months 10-3, (11-1). (See blog-post "The bee-value of South Africa's trees" for an explanation of codes)
