Koko-tree is a small to medium, evergreen tree with a medium growth rate and a neat, compact growth form. The species' leaves are very variable in form and appearance. Young leaves have a reddish color. Maytenus undata is quite frost tolerant, up to -4 degrees Celsius. It requires modest amounts of water. Koko-tree's flowers are inconspicuous, its roots are non-invasive, and the tree is not messy. It is an undiscovered jewel.
