Halleria lucida | Tree-fuchsia for sale | Notsung
Tree-fuchsia is frost tolerant and can withstand medium drought. It is evergreen, has a medium fast growth rate and a non-aggressive root system. Halleria lucida bears brick-red, tubular flowers on new growth, sometimes in profusion. Flowers of the Tree-fuchsia attract sun birds and bees to the garden. Tree-fuchsia tends to grow wild and should be pruned regularly to contain its size. It can also be pruned into an attractive small tree, but is not a good choice for a container plant.
Value to honeybees: Nectar, N0-2; Pollen, P0-2; Flowering months 1-12, (6-8). (See blog-post "The bee-value of South Africa's trees" for an explanation of codes)
