Greyia radlkofei | Transvaal bottlebrush trees (shrubs) for sale
Transvaal bottlebrush withstands light frost but is not drought resistant. It is a deciduous tree (often classified as a shrub) with bright off-red bottlebrush flowers, providing a magnificent show. Transvaal bottlebrush has less tendency to branch low down than Natal bottlebrush. Notwithstanding, its growth pattern is more shrub-like than tree-like. Greyia radlkoferi’s root system is not aggressive, which makes it an ideal candidate for a small garden. The Transvaal species is more resistant to fungal attack than its Natal counterpart (Greyia sutherlandii) and is better adapted to the Highveld climate. Greyia radlkoferi does well in a container. Both Greyia species are undiscovered jewels and will give great pleasure to any enthusiastic gardener.
