Bushveld gardenia (Bosveldkatjiepiering) is a slow growing, small, deciduous tree with a compact growth form and non-aggressive roots. The tree is known for its striking, fragrant flowers, which (unfortunately!) lasts only one day. However its fruit grows large and remains on the tree for a long time. Gardenia volkensii tolerates frost and is quite water wise.
