Common wild pear withstands severe frost and is somewhat drought tolerant. It is a deciduous tree which grows at a medium rate. Dombeya rotundifolia flowers profusely in early spring, exhibiting striking white flower heads. It is a beautiful sight, but the flowers don’t last long. Dombeya rotundifolia has a non-aggressive root system. It responds well to pruning and grows reasonable well in a container. Common wild pear is a popular bonsai.
