Tassel berry is frost sensitive and has little drought tolerance. It is a small, fast growing, evergreen tree with leathery, glossy, bright green leaves.  Antidesma vinosum distinguishes between male and female trees. The latter bears abundant clusters of berries. Tassel berry attracts many bird species and is an excellent candidate for the small garden.
