Searsia undulata | Kuni-bush tree for sale | Koeniebos boom te koop
Kuni-bush (Koeniebos) is a medium-fast growing, small, evergreen tree with a shrub-like growth form. It is native to arid regions in Southern Africa, where its mature size remains quite small. Searsia undulata's bright green, tri-foliate leaves often have a wavy edge, hence its scientific species name "undulata". It's thin, fleshy fruit is typical of the Genus, and will attract fruit-eating birds. The tree tolerates frost and is very water-wise.
A few gardening ideas:
Although Kuni-bush is an easy grower, it is not readily available in the nursery trade. Plant it in a water-wise garden as a collector's item or as a neat, low maintenance screening tree. This species is recommended for planting in a small garden. It does well in a large pot, which is the way to go if you have a very small garden and want to enjoy this jewel of South-Africa's arid western region.
