The Weeping wattle tree is frost hardy and marginally drought tolerant. It is a deciduous tree which grows at a medium rate. Peltophorum africanum exhibits clusters of bright-yellow flowers, often in abundance. Its leaves resemble those of the Jacaranda tree. Weeping wattle’s natural growth form (and hence its trunk and branching structure) is “informal’. This makes it an interesting choice as a focal point in a large garden.  Peltophorum africanum has a non-aggressive root system. It responds favourably to pruning and does well in a container. The latter is an ideal solution for planting a Weeping wattle in a small garden. Peltophorum africanum is a popular bonsai.
