Soap shiny leaf is a medium-small, evergreen tree with a straight, multi-stem growth habit and a non-aggressive root system. Its flowers and fruit are small and the tree is therefore not messy. The tree has simple, lanceolate, shiny leaves.  Noltea africana is slightly frost sensitive and requires modest water. Twigs and leaves of Soap shiny-leaf  were once used to make soap - hence the popular name. It is an ideal tree for a small garden, or even a very small garden. Use it as a screening tree to shield an unsightly wall or to create privacy.
