Russet bushwillow withstands light frost and severe drought. It is a semi-deciduous tree which grows at an average rate. Combretum hereroense has smallish dark-green leaves and four-winged dark-read fruit, which stays on the tree for a long time. A tree with abundant fruit is a beautiful sight. Russet bushwillow has a non-aggressive root system. It responds well to pruning and will grow is a container. Combretum hereroense is a good choice for the small garden and it is also a popular bonsai.
