Combretum erythrophyllum | River bushwillow trees for sale | Riviervaderlandswilg
River bush-willow is very hardy. It tolerates severe frost and drought. Combretum erythrophyllum is deciduous and may exhibit beautiful autumn colors (pending weather and climatic conditions). River bush-willow is a large tree with an aggressive root system. The tree is not a good specimen to plant in a pot and is therefore not recommended for small gardens. Combretum erythrophyllum is often planted along street pavements and to provide shade for parking lots. It is a "no-nonsense" plant-and-forget species.
Value to honeybees: Nectar, N0-3; Pollen, P0-3; Flowering months 9-2, (10-11). (See blog-post "The bee-value of South Africa's trees" for an explanation of codes)
