Tree selection wizard. Find the tree species which meet your requirements
After you have shortlisted your trees, look in the "inquire" column to learn which bag sizes are currently in stock.
How it works:
The table below is indexed by the tree's scientific name. Its popular English name is also shown. You can sort the table alphabetically by either of the names.
Attributes of each species are provided in the following categories:
frost hardiness (hardy-6 (ca-6 degrees C); hardy-4; hardy-2; sensitive (-0C); very sensitive (+2C)) and water needs (waterwise, thirsty)
seasonal changes (e.g. evergreen vs. deciduous);Tree growth rate (fast, medium, slow); Tree root behaviour (non-aggressive, aggressive, very aggressive)
striking tree features (e.g growth form, autumn/spring colors, beautiful flowers, etc.)
wild life which is attracted by this tree (e.g. its leaves/seeds is eaten by game; it attracts birds, etc.)
finally the table recommends the tree for specific use, for example container planting or planting in a small garden.
A powerful search function enables you to select your trees by keying in one or more features (separated by a blank space). Enter for example "birds evergreen". The table will recommend (among others), Harpephyllum caffrum. Clicking on the link provided in the first column (Scientific name) connects you to an external (scientific) webpage which discusses the tree in detail.
